Overview:
The present invention consists of the use of a composition based on plant extracts from the genus Spilanthes for sedating or anesthetizing aquatic animals, particularly fish. The extract of Spilanthes acmella, obtained by fractionated supercritical fluid extraction, is diluted in an ethanol solution and added to water to induce sedation and/or anesthesia in fish.
