Fitec 2025 will feature more than 30 projects, highlighting areas such as Sustainability, Industry 4.0, and Biotechnology

The 16th Technological Innovation Fair of FURG (Fitec) is about to begin. From August 28 to September 3, 2025, Cidec-Sul at the Carreiros Campus of the Federal University of Rio Grande (FURG) will host a program dedicated to science, technology, and innovation. Held jointly with FURG’s 50th Book Fair, Fitec will showcase over 30 innovative projects developed by students, researchers, and technology-based companies affiliated with the university and partner institutions.

Confirmed participants include laboratories, research groups, technology-based companies, and representatives from FURG’s innovation ecosystems, as well as from IFRS, Oceantec, and Innovatio. The projects span multiple fields of knowledge, with special emphasis on Sustainability and the Environment, Biotechnology, Automation and Industry 4.0, and the Blue Economy, among others.

In addition to project exhibitions, the fair will offer interactive activities and opportunities for knowledge exchange among academia, industry, and the local community. The goal is to strengthen the regional innovation ecosystem and foster dialogue between science and society.

According to Celso Carvalho, an administrative technician at the Office of the Vice-Provost for Innovation and Information Technology (Proiti) and a member of the event’s organizing committee, Fitec represents a concrete initiative to promote science and technology. “It is the result of significant investment in science and technology that ensures an autonomous process of social development,” he states.

The event is expected to attract a diverse audience interested in discovering the technological solutions developed by regional educational and research institutions. Admission is free and open to the public.
