The Office of the Vice-Rector for Innovation and Information Technology (PROITI) aims to promote Innovation and Technological Development in academic and administrative activities by enhancing information systems and technologies, as well as expanding mechanisms for technology transfer to society in coordination with FURG’s Innovation Environments.
PROITI is responsible for implementing FURG’s Innovation Policy and has the mission to discuss, plan, and coordinate technology transfer actions for regional, national, and international communities. Furthermore, it plays a pivotal role in reinforcing the inseparable integration of teaching, research, extension, and innovation.
PROITI actively fosters initiatives that involve establishing partnerships with public and private institutions to carry out joint scientific and technological research activities aimed at developing or implementing innovations and improvements in products, services, or processes across various economic sectors. It also takes a leading role in creating and/or managing innovative environments—either independently or in collaboration with other public and/or private organizations—such as technology or social incubators, science and technology parks, and participation in the equity of technology- or socially based enterprises, among others.
PROITI operationalizes the University’s innovation and entrepreneurship initiatives through:
- The Science and Technology Park – OCEANTEC
- The Technology-Based Business Incubator – INNOVATIO
- The Information Technology Management Center – CGTI
- The Embrapii Unit – iTec/FURG
